What Speed Should I Run My Air Purifier

I was excited to start using my air purifier when it arrived at my doorstep.

I immediately unboxed it, found a suitable placement for the purifier, and turned it on.

But then I realized: I had no clue which speed to set it at.

I didn’t buy an automatic air purifier, so I had to set the fan speed manually.

And it didn’t help that I couldn’t find that much information online about the ideal speed for my air purifier.

So, I dug deep and played around with the settings until I figured out the ideal speed for my air purifier.

I learned that the ideal fan speed for the air purifier could vary depending on several factors, and it also makes a huge difference.

Today, I’ll talk about the ideal fan speed for your air purifier and other things to remember to get the most out of your air purifier.

Let’s dive into it.

Does Fan Speed Affect Air Purifier Performance?

Fan speed can have a significant effect on your air purifier’s performance.

While certain air purifiers don’t rely on fans, most require fans to circulate the air.

Modern air purifiers are basically fans with a filtration system.

The fan pushes air through a series of filters to purify it before recirculating it in the room.

So, if the fan isn’t functioning correctly or is too slow for the room’s air volume, it won’t clean the air effectively.

Since the fan is one of the essential components of your air purifier, it’s important to take proper care.

After using my air purifier for a few months, I learned that the fans get dirty over time.

And if you don’t clean fan blades, it won’t circulate as effectively, even if it’s on the right speed.

Maintaining your air purifier is crucial if you want it to last a long time.

This is why it’s best to clean your air purifier regularly, including the blades.

That way, you’re sure that the air is circulating correctly regardless of the fan speed, giving you clean and healthy air.

If you bought an air purifier that uses a filtration system, you must pay close attention to fan speed.

Putting the fan at the right speed is key to getting the air purifier to work correctly and effectively clean the air.

If you don’t, you might end up with dirty and contaminated air in the room, even if the air purifier is 24/7.

What Speed Should I Run My Air Purifier?

If you don’t want to think about the fan speed of your air purifier, you can get an automatic one or an air purifier that doesn’t use a fan.

The best air purifiers all use fans, even if you can’t tell immediately.

You must find the right fan speed to get the most out of your air purifier.

Finding the right fan speed can be very difficult if your air purifier doesn’t have an automatic setting.

So, here are a couple of things to consider to make it easier to determine the right fan speed for your air purifier:

Measure the Size of the Room

I highly suggest measuring your room before buying an air purifier.

The main difference between the air purifiers on the market is the areas they can handle.

So, before you get an air purifier, measure the room to ensure you buy an air purifier that can handle the space.

And when you’re ready to start using the air purifier, you can use the room size as a reference point.

The simplest way to set your air purifier is to put it on the highest setting when you first turn it on, regardless of the room size.

This removes as many particles as possible and quickly circulates clean air.

From there, you can lower the settings if you find that it cleans the air efficiently.

However, if you have a larger room, you might have to keep it at a faster speed to circulate the air effectively.

Additionally, you might want to measure the air volume of the room.

To do this, you must multiply the room’s length, width, and height.

For example, if the room is 16 feet by 20 feet with a 10-foot ceiling, the calculation would be 16 feet x 20 feet x 10 feet, which equals 3,200 cubic feet.

Look at the Air Purifier’s CADR

The best way to figure out how much air your air purifier is cleaning is by looking at the clean-air-delivery rate or CADR.

This is a way to visualize how much clean air the purifier can deliver in an hour.

This is measured in cubic meters or feet per hour.

For example, the Coway air purifier has a CADR of 246 for dust.

This means it can deliver 246 cubic meters of clean air every hour.

This gives you a rough estimate of how long an air purifier takes to clean a room.

The CADR is usually measured on the air purifier’s highest settings.

So, if your room has a fair amount of air volume, you might want to use the air purifier at the highest speed to clean the air quickly.

Does Fan Speed Matter All the Time?

As I said earlier, fan speed doesn’t matter 100% of the time.

If you own an air purifier that uses a fan (which most of them do), you need to pay attention to fan speed.

But this isn’t the only type of air purifier available.

An excellent example of this is the in-duct air purifier.

These air purifiers are installed into the HVAC system and utilize filtration, UV-C light, or ionization.

But since these systems purify the air flowing through the HVAC unit, you don’t have to worry about fan speed.

Another example of an air purifier that doesn’t use fans is the ionizer.

These air purifiers release negatively charged ions into the air.

These ions bond with tiny particles floating around, causing them to fall down and stick to surfaces.

While these air purifiers don’t utilize fans, I still don’t recommend using them.

This is because ionizers can produce ozone, which is dangerous if you inhale large amounts of it.

Additionally, ionizers still require you to sweep up or clean the particles that land on different surfaces, which is pretty annoying.

You have to worry about fan speeds for most air purifiers.

In fact, air purifiers with fans are generally the most effective option for cleaning a room or area.

This is why I suggest buying fan air purifiers since they are safer and more effective than air purifiers that don’t use fans.

Tips for Getting the Most Out of Your Air Purifier

Air purifiers offer a lot of benefits to the user.

But to get the most out of your air purifier, you must ensure you’re using it properly.

Here are a couple of tips to keep in mind when using an air purifier to ensure you reap as many benefits as possible.

Use the Highest Setting

I briefly mentioned this earlier, but I’d like to get into more detail about this tip.

I made the mistake of putting my air purifier on the second-highest setting when I first turned it on.

While this eventually cleaned the air, it took a while to eliminate the particles causing trouble.

But if you put the air purifier in the highest setting, it will efficiently eliminate particles in the room quickly.

I would actually recommend leaving your air purifier in the highest settings all the time if it doesn’t have an automatic function.

That way, it’ll be easier to keep the air in the room clean all the time.

Leave the Air Purifier On

Another tip I can give people looking to make the most out of their air purifier is to leave it on around the clock.

Even if the air purifier removes all the harmful particles in the air, new particles are constantly entering the room.

New particles will always make their way in unless you have an air-tight room.

And once they start circulating, you’d want the air purifier to capture the particles and prevent them from entering your lungs.

I recommend leaving the air purifier on as long as possible.

If you can, it would be best to leave it on 24/7.

Modern air purifiers don’t use that much power, so you can leave it on without worrying about your electric bill skyrocketing.

Air purifiers are designed to be left on for long periods.

And as long as there’s a person in the room, I’d suggest turning on the air purifier to keep the air quality as high as possible.

Get an Automatic Air Purifier

If you want to get the most out of your air purifier, I’d suggest getting an automatic model.

The first reason you might want to do this is that automatic air purifiers adjust depending on the air quality.

You can find an air quality monitor on these air purifiers, so you get a reference for air quality whenever you look at the display.

On top of that, the air purifier will automatically adjust the fan speed and other settings depending on the air quality.

For example, if the air quality is poor, the device will speed up the fan to filter out particles faster.

But if the air quality is decent, it lowers the fan speeds so that you don’t use too much power.

Since it’s best practice to keep an air purifier on as much as possible, you might want to get an automatic air purifier.

I didn’t buy an automatic model the first time I got an air purifier and regretted it.

So, to reap the most benefits, I highly suggest getting an automatic air purifier and leaving it on day and night.

Pay Attention to Placement

One last tip I can give those who want to get the most out of their air purifier is to pay attention to placement.

It may not be obvious, but air purifier placement is a huge deal.

Placing your air purifier in the wrong spot might lose functionality, meaning you breathe lower-quality air.

Ideally, you want to place the air purifier in a spot with good airflow.

It’s also best to elevate your air purifier by a foot or two and remove any obstructions to ensure the best performance.

Figuring out air purifier placement is tough, and if you want an easier time, you can check out my guide here.

Conclusion

Fan speed has an immense effect on your air purifier.

If your air purifier’s fan isn’t strong enough, it won’t be able to capture and eliminate particles as quickly.

This means you might end up breathing in more harmful contaminants and particles.

So, it’s always best to ensure your air purifier is functioning at the proper fan speed.

To stay safe, you can always leave the air purifier at the highest speed to ensure it captures all the pollutants in the room.

But if you want an easier time, you can opt for an air purifier with automatic functions.

That way, the air purifier automatically adjusts the fan speed depending on the room’s air quality.

With this air purifier, you no longer have to worry about adjusting settings and just sit back and enjoy clean air.

HEPA vs Carbon Filter: What’s the Difference?

Buying an air purifier for the first time is no easy task.

When I first went on the market, I was overwhelmed by all the available options.

We can spend all day discussing everything to consider when buying an air purifier, but today, let’s focus on filtration.

Typically, air purifiers come with either a HEPA or carbon filter.

Sometimes, they also use both of these filters to clean the air.

So, what’s the difference between these filters?

Well, it’s essential to understand that HEPA and carbon filters serve different purposes, and none of them are necessarily better than the other.

In this article, I’ll explain the differences between a HEPA and carbon filter air purifier in closer detail and compare the two filters in a head-to-head comparison.

Read on to learn more.

What Is a HEPA Filter?

HEPA stands for high-efficiency particulate air.

This mechanical filter is made of a fine fiberglass mesh that captures microscopic particles.

These are the most sought-out filters for air purification because they capture certain particles well.

A true HEPA filter should eliminate 97% of the particles that are 0.3 microns or smaller.

No other filters capture particles this small, making them a popular option for air purifiers.

Initially, these filters were made in WWII to prevent soldiers from inhaling radioactive particles, which explains how effective these filters are at capturing tiny particles.

Nowadays, you can find HEPA filters in many appliances.

They are commonly found in vacuum cleaners because of all the dust that goes into these machines.

They are also a go-to option for air purification because they effectively remove harmful pollutants from the air.

What Does a HEPA Filter Capture?

A true HEPA filter should capture at least 97% of particles that are 0.3 microns or smaller.

To give you a better idea of how small that is, a single strand of hair is around 70 microns thick so that HEPA filters can capture microscopic particles.

This includes dust, bacteria, pollen, pet dander, and other pollutants.

However, these filters focus on solid particles, meaning they can’t remove smoke and the particles that cause strong and foul odors.

Additionally, it’s essential to make sure you find a true HEPA filter with a high rating when shopping.

Many fake HEPA filters on the market don’t meet the standards of a true HEPA filter and won’t be as effective.

HEPA filters also use a rating system, where you’d want a HEPA filter with an H13 rating or higher.

What Is a Carbon Filter?

As you might be able to guess, a carbon filter is made out of activated carbon or charcoal.

These filters absorb smoke, fumes, VOCs, and other gaseous particles in the air.

Typically, these filters are made of foam, powder, or carbon powder, all designed to accomplish the same goal.

To make these filters, you need to treat charcoal with oxygen.

This causes the charcoal to create tiny pores that air can pass through.

And while air can pass through the pores, microscopic particles like smoke and fumes can’t, which is how they can clean the air.

While carbon filters are typically used to clean the air, they can also be used in water purification.

Since charcoal has tiny pores, it can capture the harmful particles in water that pass through it, giving you clean and drinkable water.

You can find carbon filters in most modern air purifiers.

But you can also get stand-alone carbon filters that you can use to remove foul and strong scents, allowing you to breathe in cleaner and fresher air.

What Does a Carbon Filter Capture?

As mentioned earlier, carbon filters capture gaseous particles.

Carbon filters are excellent if you have VOCs floating around your home, live in an area with wildfires, or just want to eliminate strong smells at home.

While HEPA filters are built to capture solid particles, carbon filters are made for the opposite.

These filters won’t be able to filter out small particles like dust and pet dander.

But when it comes to VOCs, gaseous pollutants, and PM 2.5, carbon filters are what will get the job done.

HEPA vs Carbon Filter: Is One Better Than the Other?

So, now that you know all the details about carbon and HEPA filters, you may wonder if one is better than the other.

A carbon filter is not better than a HEPA filter and vice versa.

Both of these filters are made to capture different particles and serve their own functions.

Having either of these filters in your air purifier is excellent, but combining the two for even more functionality is better.

That said, just because neither of these filters is the better option doesn’t mean you can’t compare the two.

Below, we’ll get into the key differences between a HEPA and carbon filter to give you a clearer idea of when to use either filter.

Usage

HEPA filters remove solid particles like dust, pet dander, and pollen.

So, if you have HEPA filters in your air purifier, you’ll be able to clean the air efficiently.

HEPA filters can eliminate allergens and other particles that can affect your health, making them one of the most popular filtration systems for air purifiers.

On the flip side, carbon filters capture foul odors and gases.

This includes VOCs, smoke, and other particles that cause strong odors.

These are typically used to help a space smelling clean and fresh while improving the overall air quality.

Since both air purifiers are used differently, having both in your air purifier eliminates allergens and keeps your space smelling fresh.

Maintenance

When it comes to maintenance, both of these filtration systems are very different.

Some HEPA filters are built to last you a long time.

So, you can clean out and wash these filters whenever they get dirty, extending their lifetime.

It’s essential to clean your HEPA filter regularly.

This keeps your air purifier functioning properly and extends your HEPA filter’s lifespan.

That said, other HEPA filters aren’t reusable.

Replace these filters whenever they get dirty.

But getting a washable HEPA filter might be best if you want a more inexpensive option.

When it comes to carbon filters, you won’t be able to

wash or clean them.

Currently, there’s no such thing as a washable carbon filter.

Instead, once these filters get full and don’t work as well, you have to replace the entire filter.

You can notice that the carbon filter needs replacing if a foul scent comes from the air purifier or if you find the air purifier doesn’t eliminate strong odors.

So, when it comes to maintenance, these filters are very different.

Most modern air purifiers use washable HEPA filters, which means you can wash and clean the filter whenever it gets dirty.

However, if you have one with a carbon filter, you’ll need to replace the entire filter regularly.

Effectiveness

This is probably the category where HEPA and carbon filters will have the same score.

Both of these filters will do the trick when it comes to effectiveness.

Remember, these filters have different purposes.

And nowadays, they have considered the best options for either purpose.

If you want to remove dust and other tiny solid particles from the air, a HEPA filter is your best option.

On the other hand, a carbon filter is the better pick if you want to eliminate strong scents and odors in your home.

Conclusion: Should I Get a HEPA Filter or Carbon Filter Air Purifier?

Neither of these filters is better than the other.

These are two completely different technologies that have their purpose.

HEPA filters are made of fiberglass mesh and capture solid particles in the air. In contrast, manufacturers made carbon filters for absorbing odors and gases.

If you had to choose only one of these filters for your air purifier, I recommend the HEPA filter.

This is because dust, pollen, and other solid particles can make life uncomfortable, especially if you have allergies like me.

But if your sole goal is to eliminate odors, a carbon filter is the better choice, as HEPA filters won’t be able to do that.

However, I usually recommend getting a model with both filters when buying an air purifier.

Filtration systems with HEPA and carbon filters are incredibly effective and one of the best choices for effectively cleaning the air.

Either filter would be a good pick.

But for more functionality and the cleanest possible air, you might want an air purifier with HEPA and carbon filters.

With a combination air purifier, you get the best of both worlds.

The 3 Best Himalayan Rock Salt Air Purifier Lamps

I’ve got to admit that when I first looked for my first air purifier to deal with the allergies, I had at the time, I never considered a rock salt lamp.

However, now that I’ve owned a rock salt lamp for a while, I can see the hype and interest behind them.

They not only look aesthetic (especially when lit up), but they can also reduce the pollution in the air at home.

It’s a win-win, especially since I prefer my home to be lit up by a warmer and more ambient light.

What Are Himalayan Salt Lamps?

If you’ve never heard of them before, Himalayan salt lamps may seem like a strange purchase at first.

Why would anyone purchase a rock salt lamp over a regular lamp?

Besides their cool look and warm light emitted, Himalayan salt lamps can also benefit our health.

These products come from Pakistan, where the salt rocks are mined.

The color these rocks have comes from trace materials from within the salt rock.

Once the rock is mined and broken down into the desired size, manufacturers take it and hand-carve out the shape.

Once they do that, they then make the inside hollow so that a light bulb can be installed.

Tons and tons of rock salt are used to make these salt rock lamps, which have become increasingly more popular on the market.

Apparently, these Himalayan salt rock lamps release ions in the air, purifying our indoor air and ultimately making it healthier to breathe.

It can be pretty hard to believe how that could happen, so I will try and describe the process as well as I can in the section below.

How Do Rock Salt Lamps Purify the Air?

It doesn’t take a lot of effort to see that a rock salt lamp doesn’t have a filtration system as you would find in a typical air purifier.

Despite that, many people with COPD, asthma, allergies, and other respiratory symptoms claim that their rock salt lamp has positively impacted their condition.

So, how are these rock salt lamps capable of purifying the air?

Essentially, when the lamp heats up, it starts to produce negative ions.

And when these negative ions clash with the positive ions found in the air, they can make them fall down to the ground, much like an ionizer.

With that being said, no direct studies prove that Himalayan salt lamps can purify the air or improve the quality of air in any way.

The Best Rock Salt Lamps for Air Purification

There are dozens of types of rock salt lamps on the market today.

I know this because I did a ton of research back when I bought my rock salt lamp and this guide.

Below, I’ve listed my three top picks, one of which I currently own.

Best Overall Himalayan Salt Air Purifier Lamp: The Body Source 10’’-12″ Himalayan Salt Lamp

Before I review this product, I want to say that this is the one that I currently own.

And no, it’s not the best overall pick because I have it, but because it is the best rock salt lamp you can buy.

To start, let’s take a look at the design of this rock salt lamp.

It measures between 10″ and 12″ and weighs between 11 and 15 lbs.

The reason why I can’t give you the exact measurements is that every lamp of this type you buy will be slightly different from the next.

This is because each lamp features a unique and distinct rock (this is normal as it is a genuine lamp made out of a Himalayan salt rock).

The rock is perfectly balanced on a wooden base, which looks awesome when the rock salt lamp is on and off.

One feature I liked about this model is the integrated dimmer switch, which allows you to fully adjust the lamps’ warmth and glow.

Besides, this model comes fully assembled, meaning you can simply just turn it on, and it will light up and start to do its magic.

What’s more is that this particular product comes with a spare 15-watt bulb, which is a nice bonus considering this rock salt lamp’s pretty hefty price point.

Pros:

  • Unique hand-carved design
  • Sturdy wooden base
  • Adjustable glow and warmth.
  • It will last you for a very long time
  • Comes in a range of different sizes

Cons:

  • Quite pricey

Best Budget Himalayan Salt Air Purifier Lamp: Himalayan Glow 5-7 Pound Himalayan Salt Lamp

This one is a fantastic choice if you’re looking for an affordable Himalayan rock salt lamp.

Due to the lower price point, the rock salt lamp is smaller than the best overall pick from above – weighing between 5 and 7 lbs and measuring 5″ D x 5 “W x 9 “H.

As a result of its size, it’s perfect for smaller bedrooms and living rooms.

Even for this affordable model, each rock salt lamp is unique because each rock is hand-crafted.

This model has a solid wooden foundation, which looks even better when the lamp is on in the dark.

Pros:

  • Great for smaller rooms
  • Sturdy wooden base
  • Has a dimmer built-in
  • Each lamp has a unique shape and design

Cons:

  • Not the best pick for larger spaces

Best Himalayan Salt Air Purifier Lamp Bowl: SPANTIK Himalayan Salt Lamp

As we’ve already established, every rock salt lamp comes in a unique shape and size.

This is the natural shape that the rock has obtained during its making.

This allows for rock salt lamps to be shaped in infinitely different ways.

So, if you’re looking for a more unique rock salt lamp design, this bowl-shaped one might be just what you’re looking for.

This model weighs between 6 and 9 lbs and measures ‎9.92″ in height x 7.05″ in width x 7.01″ in length.

The Spantik’s bowl salt lamp comes with an E12 socket incandescent light bulb, a Dimmer switch, a 6-feet electric cord, and a polished wooden base.

Pros:

  • Unique bowl-like design
  • Ideal for common areas
  • Large and built to last
  • Dimmable switch
  • Solid wood foundation

Cons:

  • The design isn’t for everyone

What Are the Benefits of a Rock Salt Lamp?

Manufacturers claim that Himalayan rock salt lamp air purifiers offer several benefits.

These range from positively impacting your mood and improving your sleep quality to purifying the air inside your home.

But how accurate are these claims?

Well, while there is some truth to it, it’s essential to take them with a grain of salt because it’s common for manufacturers to inflate the claims to sell more rock salt lamps.

That said, there are still some benefits to owning a rock salt lamp, which we’ll get to in this section.

Better Sleep

Light (particularly artificial) can impact your ability to fall asleep and have a quality night’s sleep.

And while having a rock salt lamp might not directly improve your sleep quality, it will impact it indirectly.

For example, if you decide to use your rock salt lamp over your normal light in the room, your eyes will adjust to the rock salt lamp’s more calming and soothing colors.

This way, you will naturally feel more relaxed, your eyes will be at ease, and you can quickly and easily fall asleep when you’re tired.

When you have your normal light on, it is sharp and can keep you awake by tricking your brain into that it’s still daytime.

If you stay in a lit-up environment before bed, your brain won’t have the time to slow down and get ready to rest.

Improved Mood

With a rock salt lamp, there’s a big chance that you’ll see an improvement in your general mood, especially at night.

There is some evidence that negative ions can help treat depression.

And while these studies need to be reviewed and validated, many people claim their rock salt lamps improve their mood, especially when left on for a long time.

Personally, the improved mood comes from the soothing light that my rock salt lamp emits.

There’s something really relaxing about the dark orange color my lamp emits in my dark room.

It makes the room cozy, and who wouldn’t like a bit of coziness over an intense LED light?

You’ll Feel More Relaxed

Like the point above, thanks to the ambient light and the lovely, dark, and soothing colors, you’ll be at ease within minutes.

That way, you can quickly feel much more relaxed after a stressful day at work and enjoy the rest of your evening.

I look forward to turning my rock salt lamp on every night, especially during the winter.

It gets dark much sooner, allowing me to enjoy its beauty for longer.

Air Purification?

As I mentioned above, air purification is one of the primary reasons why people buy rock salt lamps in the first place.

However, after some research, I found that there is no evidence that rock salt lights improve the quality of air indoors.

However, even if it does, that’s a very nice benefit that we’ll experience on top of the calm and relaxing light these incredible and unique products emit.

What To Consider When Buying Rock Salt Lamps

It can be challenging to pick the best rock salt lamp for you.

So, I’d like you to consider a few things before investing your hard-earned money into a model.

These go in no particular order but are equally as important, so check them out before making a decision.

Your Room Size

I’d recommend you consider the size of your room where you’ll place the rock salt lamp.

If you want to buy one for a basement or another large area, consider purchasing a larger rock salt lamp.

However, this is optional.

You can go for any size rock salt lamp, unlike when you buy an air purifier and need to consider its air purification capacity.

The Design

Lastly, it’s also essential to consider the lamp’s design.

As you may already know, every rock salt lamp is different in shape and size.

Each lamp is made from a natural salt rock from the Himalayas and is usually carved out by hand.

As a result, you can buy a rock salt lamp in several designs, including bowls, a rock, and more.

So, you have the freedom to shop around and find just the right design for your needs and still experience the very same benefits as any other salt rock lamp.

Additional Features

When it comes to rock salt lamps, there aren’t many added features you can expect them to have.

This is different from virtually any other type of air purification appliance or air purifier for pregnancy.

Tips for Using a Himalayan Salt Lamp

If this is your first time owning a Himalayan salt lamp, there are a few tips that I would suggest to you to make the most out of your purchase.

Remember, these lamps can melt and lose weight over time.

So, make sure to put it on a plate or something to capture the water that melts off the lamp.

On top of that, here are some other tips for using a Himalayan salt lamp:

  • Try to reduce humidity in the room you place the lamp
  • Place the lamp on a dry surface
  • Wipe down the lamp with a damp cloth when needed

Conclusion

Rock salt lamps are a unique accessory you can buy for your home.

And while they can’t purify the air, as well as some people believe, they can benefit you in many different ways.

These include improving your sleep, making you more relaxed, and boosting your mood.

I personally love my rock salt lamp, and I would definitely buy a new one when the right time comes for my current one to get replaced.

Ultimate Guide To Air Purifier Payment Plans

Buying an air purifier outright isn’t something most people are comfortable with.

This is especially the case if they’re going for a more premium model that costs a good chunk of money.

When I first bought my premium air purifier, it cost around $500, and at the time, I wasn’t in a position to pay for it in full on the spot.

So, I explored a range of air purifier payment plans and went for the best one that I could find at the time.

The Best Heater, Humidifier, and Air Purifier All-in-One

When it comes to improving the quality of air inside your home, there are many different types of appliances that you can pick from.

Some heaters can keep your home warm, humidifiers that can add humidity to your indoors, and air purifiers responsible for freeing the air from irritants and allergens.

The issue with those is that they are all designed to do one job.

And while there’s nothing wrong with that, it would be nice if there was an all-in-one unit that could do all three.

Wouldn’t it be a dream to have a heater, humidifier, and air purifier all in one?

I can personally see how such a unit can be beneficial throughout all four seasons of the year.

But, is there an appliance like this on the market?

I will uncover that in this article, so keep reading to find out more.

Are There Air Purifier, Humidifier, and Heater Combo Units?

A unit that can purify, humidify, and heat the air sounds like a dream.

But are there any such units available on the market today?

Yes, there are, but there aren’t as many models as I would have liked.

The lack of options really does limit your choices.

Fortunately, I came across two particular units I liked, which I’ll discuss below.

With that being said, many alternative air purifier combinations are on the market today.

These include an air purifier with a heater, air purifier humidifier combo, air purifier dehumidifier combo, and more.

Don’t worry.

I’ll go through some of those after I talk about the two best all-in-one heater, humidifier, and air purifier units.

Best All-In-One Heater, Humidifier, and Air Purifier Units

During my research, I only really managed to come across two worthwhile units.

One is a budget-friendly pick, whereas the other is a bit more of a premium option, which I’ll start with.

Best Overall Heater Humidifier Air Purifier: 3-In-1 GreenTech Environmental pureHeat Air Purifier, Heater & Humidifier

As I mentioned above, there aren’t many different heater, humidifier, and air purifier combos on the market.

The best unit I came across is this 3-in-1 model by GreenTech, which is jam-packed with features.

To start, let’s talk about the design.

I’m not a massive fan of it as it looks old-fashioned and bulky, causing the appliance to weigh around 26 lbs, which is pretty heavy.

That significantly reduces its portability, and if you want to move it from room to room, you’ll likely need the help of another person.

That said, it has wheels on the bottom, which means you can just roll it if you can’t lift it.

The design is the only downside to this unit; even then, it’s not bad as it would fit the taste of many people.

When it comes to performance, all three functionalities (air purifier, heater, and humidifier) work simultaneously when the unit is on.

This means that your air is humidified and purified while your space is heated.

This unit uses Photocatalytic Oxidation (PCO) technology to purify the air.

In short, this technology transforms pollutants, making them no longer toxic to inhale.

It doesn’t feature a HEPA filter, a carbon-activated filter, or any other filter.

It purifies the air using the PCO technology when capturing the pollutants and dispersing them back into the room.

This destroys contaminants from air and surfaces in the room, similar to how hydrogen peroxide kills bacteria in liquid form.

In terms of heating, humidity, and purification capacity, this appliance is great for rooms of up to 1,000 feet, which is plenty for most people.

Pros:

Cons:

  • Quite heavy and not very portable

Best Runner Up Heater Humidifier Air Purifier: Envion by Boneco 4-In-1 Air Purifier, Heater, Fan & Humidifier

If you’re looking for a more affordable alternative, this Envion model by Boneco is an excellent choice.

This model has a tower design, meaning it takes much less space on the floor compared to the GreenTech model from above.

The Envision by Boneco measures just 9″ D x 25.6 “W x 10.2 “H and weighs just over 10 lbs, making it a very portable and easy-to-move-around option.

What I particularly liked about this model is that it is a 4-in-1 appliance that features an air purifier, a heater, a fan, and a humidifier.

You get all of these functionalities for under a hundred dollars. It’s a great deal.

This model is predominantly made out of plastic due to its low price point.

Meaning it’s not the most durable, but as long as you don’t drop it, it will work fine.

Another remarkable feature of this device is its air purifier location capabilities.

It can cover a room of up to 250 square feet.

It effectively purifies and cleans the air from mold, germs, bacteria, viruses, smoke, and other solids and gas particles in the air.

Lastly, this model has an intuitive control panel that allows you to set your ideal temperature and humidity.

In terms of downsides, as you can imagine, this appliance doesn’t have any automatic or smart features.

And in my opinion, that’s totally reasonable considering how affordable it is.

Pros:

  • Features a true HEPA filter
  • Lightweight and portable
  • Very affordable
  • Can circulate the air in your room 3 times in 60 minutes

Cons:

  • Not suitable for rooms larger than 250 square feet

Alternative Unit Combos You Should Consider

Dyson Pure Hot + Cool Air Purifier, Heater + Fan – Air Purifier, Heater, and Fan Combo

Dyson is arguably the leader in the industry regarding air purifiers, fans, heaters, and humidifiers.

Some people believe their unique designs are just gimmicks and an excuse to charge more for an average product.

On the other hand, some people genuinely stand by Dyson’s design concepts and appliances, calling the brand the best in the world.

But regardless of where you stand, you can’t go wrong with the Dyson Pure Hot if you’re looking for an air purifier, a heater, and a fan combo.

This unique combination allows you to use the unit throughout the year.

For example, if it’s cold out and you want your indoors heated up, simply use the heater.

On the flip side, if it’s summer and you want to keep cool, use the fan.

I personally own this unit, and it’s fantastic.

I’ve been using it for around 12 months and have zero complaints.

This model uses a true HEPA filter to purify the air, which can catch up to 99.97% of all solid particles like pollen, dust, and other irritants.

Granted, it doesn’t have a carbon-activated filter, so it won’t be able to take care of VOCs, smoke, or cooking odor.

Another cool feature is leaving this device on and forgetting about it because of its automatic functions.

So it can adjust fan speed according to the air quality and temperature inside your room.

And best of all, this appliance has a unique and futuristic design with a bladeless fan.

Not only is it sleek looking, but it’s extremely quiet even at its maximum settings.

The only noise you will hear will be the whispering sounds of the air being blasted out of the unit’s openings.

As I said above, Dyson isn’t the cheapest brand, which is true with this model.

The Dyson Pure Hot + Cool Air Purifier costs significantly more than other products with similar features.

But rest assured that if you choose this model, you will definitely pay for quality and a unit that will last you for many years.

Pros:

  • Comes with great automatic features
  • Uses a true HEPA filter
  • Can cool and heat the room
  • Connects to other smart devices via Wi-Fi
  • Modern and unique design

Cons:

  • One of the more expensive models on the market

Afloia 2 in 1 HEPA Air Purifier with Humidifier – Best Air Purifier and Humidifier Combo

If you’re not looking for a heater, then there is no reason why you should pay for a device with a built-in heater.

The best 2-in-1 air purifier with a humidifier combo I found was this model by Afloia.

It looks simple but works well and comes with features surpassing its price range.

This is one of the most affordable air purifiers you can get with a true HEPA filter.

On top of that, it has a humidifier function to improve the air quality inside your home.

With the HEPA filter, the purifier can filter out various solid particles like dust, pollen, and other pollutants that can cause asthma attacks or an irritated respiratory system.

It also has a couple of lights attached to the device to add a terrific aesthetic.

The lights include night-mode lights that help calm you before you sleep.

It even has a cool touch interface that you can use to adjust the settings.

When it comes to drawbacks, this device has a number of them.

These aren’t deal-breakers, but they’re something to keep in mind if you plan on buying this unit for yourself.

To start, it has no smart functions, which can be a hassle as you’ll have to manually adjust the device every time you want to use it.

Additionally, this air purifier can purify a room as large as 438 square feet.

So it’s not a suitable choice if you’re looking for an air purifier for a basement or a larger space.

But if you’re looking for something you can use to cleanse the air and add a bit of humidity in a dry room, this is a great option.

It’s also really affordable, giving you a fair amount of value.

Pros:

  • One of the more affordable options
  • Purifies and humidifies the air
  • Simple design
  • Has a true HEPA filter
  • Uses evaporative humidification

Cons:

  • Not ideal for huge rooms
  • No smart functions

Are Combo Air Purifiers, Heaters & Humidifiers Worth It?

Normally, you aren’t getting the best performance if you get a combo device that can act as an air purifier, humidifier, and heater.

While this is true for many models on the market, this statement isn’t true for the two all-in-one models I listed above.

So, in my opinion, as long as you buy the suitable model, a combo air purifier heater and humidifier is worth it.

How to Find the Best All-In-One Appliance?

If the recommendations above don’t suit your needs, I’ll quickly let you know about my process.

That way, you can find the best combo for your needs.

The first thing you need to consider is the combo of technology that you want your unit to feature.

Let’s say you’re looking for an appliance for the winter.

You should look for one that can work as a heater, humidifier, and air purifier.

If you’re planning on using it during the summer, consider one that works as an air purifier, fan, and humidifier.

If you want it locally before just driving around, check on google to see if any of the local stores has what you’re looking for.

Once you know what you’re looking for and some stores have it in stock, head over there and pick it up.

Or, to make your life easier, I’d recommend shopping online as you can browse far more stores quicker across the country.

Make sure to scour through the reviews and look for ones that have pictures of the device working.

That way, you can see what previous owners of the units you’re considering think about them before you spend your hard-earned money.

Once you pick one, buy it and just have it delivered.

Conclusion

While an all-in-one air purifier with a heater and humidifier sounds like a great idea, such units are pretty hard to come by.

During my research, I only managed to come across three models, and only two of them were worth it.

The units I recommended above are outstanding and worth the money.

But, if you’re not necessarily looking for that combination, there are plenty of 2-in-1 units that you can also consider.

What Is an Ionizer Air Purifier?

There are many air purifiers available.

And one specific air purifier that’s been causing a lot of controversies is the ionizer air purifier.

When I bought my first air purifier, almost all of the guides and forums I read advised against getting an ionizer air purifier.

But what are these air purifiers, and why are they so controversial?

I’ll explain all of that and more in this article.

The 3 Best Air Purifiers With Timer

The 3 Best Air Purifiers With Timer

Modern-day air purifiers come with a ton of convenient features.

When I bought my first air purifier, I was overwhelmed with what was possible.

Granted, cheaper and more basic air purifiers don’t have as many features and functionalities, but most air purifiers do.

And one of the features that I was pleasantly surprised with was the timer.

When you have a timer on your air purifier, you won’t have to go to it to turn it off and on.

All you have to do is set the timer yourself, and the air purifier will turn on automatically at a set hour of the day.

For instance, if you’re heading to bed at 10 and want the unit to start working at 9:30, you can set it to do that.

There are more than a handful of air purifiers on the market with built-in timers, and in this article, I’ll share some of my favorite models.

3 Best Air Purifiers With Timers

There are more than enough air purifiers with built-in timers, but not all of them are worth it.

After extensive research, I believe the three models below are worth the most within their respective price ranges.

Honeywell HPA300 HEPA Air Purifier – The Best Overall Air Purifier With A Timer

In my opinion, the best air purifier with a timer is the Honeywell HPA300.

One of the reasons why this particular air purifier is my favorite is because of its air purification capacity.

This air purifier is well-equipped for large rooms up to 465 square feet, which is more than enough to handle any house area.

On top of that, it has a tremendous multi-stage filtration system.

The air purifier has a true HEPA filter, essential for removing solid particles such as dirt, dust, pollen, and others.

On top of that, it has a pre-filter for larger particles like pet dander and a carbon filter for nasty or harmful smells and odors.

In other words, it is the all-in-one solution for your air purification needs.

And, of course, this model has an excellent timer feature.

This air purifier has three different timer settings: a 2-hour, 4-hour, and 8-hour timer.

You won’t have to worry about turning the air purifier off again.

All you have to set the timer and leave it to do its job.

Once it hits the set time, the air purifier will automatically shut off, which is extremely handy.

In terms of design, this air purifier certainly isn’t lacking.

The sleek black colorway can fit in very well in many homes and doesn’t steal that much attention.

As I personally own this air purifier, after a few months of usage, I have zero complaints about it.

It would have been great if this air purifier was a bit more affordable, but it’s still very worth the price.

So, aside from a slightly higher price tag, this air purifier with a built-in timer is a great and worthwhile purchase.

Pros:

  • The best (in my opinion) air purifier on the market
  • A great multi-stage filtration system
  • Convenient timer settings
  • Sleek and modern design
  • Ideal for medium to large spaces

Cons:

  • Not the most affordable option

InvisiClean Aura II – The Best Budget Air Purifier With Timer

When I initially went to buy an air purifier, I assumed you would have to spend upwards of $250 for a good model.

However, this InvisiClean air purifier proves that you don’t need to bust the bank to get your hands on a high-quality air purifier.

This model comes with tons of great features that exceed its price range.

However, as you would expect, my favorite feature is the combo of a HEPA and a carbon-activated filter.

It’s hard to find an air purifier at this price with a true HEPA filter, let alone one with a multi-stage filtration system.

On top of that, it can handle spaces up to 1,270 square feet, which is far more than any other option on this list.

This unit is an excellent choice if you’re looking for an air purifier for a larger basement, office space, or hall.

This air purifier also uses UV-light technology to further clean the air.

This is a unique feature as not many portable air purifiers like this utilize UV light, so it’s a welcome change.

That said, the one complaint I have with this air purifier was the ionizer.

Ionizers aren’t that bad, and they can actually be very effective at clearing the air of dust and other solid particles by causing the particles to fall to the ground.

However, I have two issues with this technology.

Number one, ionizers produce ozone.

The air will smell like ozone, which can be dangerous if you breathe in too much, so I don’t recommend using this feature too often.

On top of that, since the particles fall to the ground, you still have to sweep or vacuum them, which defeats the purpose of owning an air purifier.

Besides the ionizer, this air purifier is one of the best budget options for an air purifier with a timer.

Pros:

  • Convenient timer functions
  • Uses UV-light
  • Has a true HEPA filter
  • Has a carbon filter
  • Very affordable

Cons:

  • Has an ionizer

Medify MA-40 – The Best Premium Air Purifier With Timer

While you don’t have to spend too much money to get your hands on a good air purifier, there are specific models on the market that are worth the money.

This Medify MA-40 air purifier is one of them.

If you want an air purifier with a timer that comes with premium features and will last a long time, this is the one for you.

To start, let’s look at the design.

Out of all the models I chose on this list, this one has the most unique and modern design, which is one of the key reasons I chose it as the premium pick.

On top of that, this air purifier has a true HEPA filter and carbon filter.

So, if you’re worried about VOCs, smoke, solid particles like dust, pollen, and others circulating indoors, don’t.

This air purifier is capable of taking care of solid and gaseous particles.

The Medify MA-40 also has a tremendous built-in timer, which can be set between 0 and 8 hours.

This gives you way more flexibility than any other air purifier on this list.

It’s also very quiet, so you won’t have to worry about loud noises distracting or keeping you awake at night.

And since this is a pretty air purifier, you can expect it to come with great premium features.

For example, this air purifier can handle spaces up to 1,600 square feet, which is a lot and probably excessive for most people.

It also has a touch-screen display, which is a neat and modern feature to have.

In fact, my only real complaint about this model is the price.

It’s the most expensive model on this list, and it was a bit out of my price range when I was shopping for an air purifier.

However, if I had the money, I would have gone for this one over the Honeywell model I own.

Pros:

  • Very easy to use
  • Sleek and modern design
  • Great for large spaces
  • Multi-stage filtration system
  • Touch-screen display
  • Flexible built-in timer

Cons:

  • Fairly expensive

Why Do You Need an Air Purifier with a Timer?

For some people, a timer might seem an excessive feature and a waste of money.

So, why would anyone want an air purifier with a built-in timer in the first place?

Well, that’s because air purifiers with timers allow you to use the air purifier in ways that best suit your needs.

For example, if you know you return from work at 5 PM daily, you can set your air purifier to turn on at 4 PM.

That way, the air purifier has 60 minutes to purify the air in your room before you return home.

This means that as soon as you’re home, you can start breathing in clean and purified air as the unit has already been working for an hour.

I personally find this feature super handy.

I mostly use the timer to set my air purifier to turn on for about 20-30 minutes before I head to bed.

Other Features to Consider When Buying an Air Purifier

Having a built-in timer in your air purifier is excellent.

Still, it’s not the only handy feature air purifiers tend to have.

Here are a couple more important features to remember when buying an air purifier.

A Quiet Fan

One of the essential features you want to consider in an air purifier is the noise levels it produces when purifying the air inside your home.

The last thing you want to do is get a loud air purifier.

Trust me, having a humming noise in the background all the time can be very annoying and could even put you off from using the air purifier 24/7.

I’d recommend you go for an air purifier that produces a maximum dB (decibels) of 50-60.

Anything over 60 dB is way too loud. It will be very noticeable, especially if you use the unit in a small room.

The units I’ve recommended above are very quiet, so you have nothing to worry about.

However, if you plan on shopping for an air purifier or doing more research, read my air purifier noise levels guide.

That way, you can understand decibel and air purifiers and what is considered a good choice and what isn’t.

A Multi-Stage Filtration System

An air purifier without a good filtration system isn’t worth it.

If you really want to improve the air quality inside your home, buying an air purifier with a sound filtration system is non-negotiable.

If you’re on a budget, I’d recommend a two to three-stage filtration system, and if you have a bit more money to spend, a 4-stage filtration system would be ideal.

The typical 3-stage filtration system is a standard, though.

It features a pre-filter, a HEPA filter, and a carbon-activated filter.

This combination of filters can effectively remove solid and gaseous particles in the air.

From dust and pet dander to VOCs and harmful smoke, an air purifier with such a filtration system will have no trouble dealing with all such particles.

An Automatic and Smart Functions

If you want to go all out when buying an air purifier, consider getting one with an automatic mode and many smart features.

These are entirely optional but can be pretty nice to have as they will make using your air purifier much easier and more convenient.

An air purifier with an automatic feature can adjust the unit’s performance based on the quality of air or your own presets.

Benefits of Owning an Air Purifier

If you’ve never owned an air purifier, you might be a bit skeptical of why you should buy one in the first place.

In this section, I’ll outline some of the most significant benefits of using an air purifier.

Significantly Less Polluted Air Indoors

The first and most obvious benefit is that the air quality inside your home will be dramatically better than outside.

This is because most modern air purifiers feature advanced filtration systems designed to capture up to 99.97% of all solid particles in the air.

Any models I recommend will also take care of VOCs, cooking odors, and other nasty or harmful smells and glasses.

So, if you want to enjoy and breathe clean and purified air, having an air purifier is the best way to do that, especially if you live in a polluted city.

Reduced Allergic Reactions

I personally suffer from allergies a lot during the allergy season.

And before I had my first air purifier, I used to have a pretty terrible time.

However, shortly after using it, my allergies completely disappeared when I was inside my home.

And it makes sense.

A purifier with a true HEPA filter can capture all solid pollutants and allergens that irritate your lungs before you breathe them in.

So, if you’re suffering from allergies, getting an air purifier that can tackle allergies is a fantastic investment that I couldn’t recommend enough.

Better Sleep Quality

Sleep is critical.

Poor sleep causes mood swings, feelings of tiredness, and fatigue.

It can even go as far as impacting your focus and productivity.

When I lived in India, the air quality was the worst I had ever tried, and it affected my sleep to the point where I could hardly fall asleep.

Thankfully, I bought the best air purifier for Delhi, quickly resolving my problems.

Even if you don’t believe the quality of air affects your sleep until you get to sleep in a room with purified air, you won’t honestly know.

Conclusion

Having an air purifier with a built-in timer can come in very handy.

You can simply set the time for the air purifier.

Once the right time comes, the air purifier will automatically turn on and start purifying the air.

This is great if you plan on leaving your home for a while or being busy with other activities.

Fortunately, my list of recommendations features the three best air purifiers across three different price ranges.

And honestly, no matter which unit you go for, you can’t go wrong.

3 Best Air Purifiers for Pregnancy

When you’re pregnant, you’re told you must put aside the smoking, alcohol, junk food, and other unhealthy habits you might have.

And while that’s true and every pregnant person should do it, you’re not told that you also need to breathe in clean air as much as possible.

If what you consume can impact your soon-to-be-born baby, so can the quality of the air you’re breathing.

I remember when my wife was pregnant with our son just last year.

I had done some research and came across the importance of owning an air purifier for pregnancy.

3 Best Air Purifiers For Large Basements

3 Best Air Purifiers For Large Basements

When I decided to put the time and effort into my basement renovation project, I knew air quality would be a significant concern for me.

My basement has always been super dusty, and the air quality has never been good enough for me to spend a good chunk of time there.

And since I have an air purifier for my room, I knew the only viable solution to my problem was to get an air purifier for my basement.

If you’re in a similar situation and are looking for an air purifier for your large basement but don’t know what model to get, I’ve got you covered.

When I bought my basement air purifier 4 months ago, I did a ton of research on the topic.

And in this article, I’ll share with you my favorite air purifiers for large basements on the market today.

But before I do that, I want to go over some of the core reasons why getting an air purifier for your basement is a good idea.

Why You Need an Air Purifier for the Basement

If you get a pen and paper and start listing all the reasons you need an air purifier for your basement, you can keep going for a while.

For me personally, there are three reasons why I bought mine, which most definitely applies to you too.

There’s A Lot of Dust in the Air

By default, basements are always super dusty, and air quality is generally very poor.

And while this is all thanks to poor ventilation, the lack of regular cleaning, and a few other reasons, there’s not much you can do about it.

And yes, you can always install a proper floor, hoover all the time, and install a ventilation system; that will cost you a fortune to do.

However, thanks to an air purifier, you can quickly make the air inside your basement free of dust flying in the air within hours.

To Eliminate Strong Odors

Over the years, there’s a high chance that your basement has developed its own unique odor without an apparent source.

That can make the eradication of the odor a challenging task.

But with the right purifier, you can quickly clear up any unpleasant odors, even if there’s no apparent source that they’re coming from.

To do that, you need an air purifier with an activated carbon filter. These filters are specially designed to eliminate the odors present in the air.

While such a filter won’t give a lovely scent to the smell of the air, it will make it neutral, which is what we all want anyway.

Create a Generally Healthier Space

The basement is usually the go-to option whenever you build or create a hang-out space at home.

People barely use this space in the house aside for storage, which means that you can quickly clear it out and transform the space into anything you want.

The basement could become a games room, exercise room, or a space to have a couple of drinks with friends.

However, without clean air present in the basement, you can only stay down there for so long before you want to head back up to get fresh air.

When you get a versatile air purifier and have access to purified air, the basement can quickly become an enjoyable place to spend a good few hours.

The Best Air Purifiers for Large Basements

When looking for my own air purifier for my basement, I did a ton of research.

And in the section below, I’ll go over three of my favorite air purifiers for large basements.

InvisiClean Aura II – The Best Overall Air Purifier For Large Basements

To start, I want to highlight my favorite option on the market, which is also the model I use in my basement, the InvisiClean Aura II.

The first reason I chose this air purifier was pure because of its air purification capacity.

Like most of you reading this article, I have a fairly large basement, so I need a powerful air purifier to clean the air within my ample space.

This InvisiClean model can handle areas up to 1,276 square feet, which is more than enough for most large basements.

Another excellent feature I liked in this model is its advanced filtration system.

This model features an H13 HEPA filter, an activated carbon filter, an ionizer, and UV-C light.

It quite literally has everything you could possibly need from an air purifier.

This unit can remove not only 99.97% of all solid particles as small as 0.3 microns but also remove odors, gasses, and VOCs in the air.

One downside to this unit is the ionizer, which I never recommend.

Still, you can turn it off and use the unit as intended.

Another benefit of this air purifier is that it’s relatively quiet, even in the strongest setting.

This is particularly beneficial as I don’t like when the air purifier is too loud because it can quickly get distracting.

And if you want the air purifier to get even quieter, you can put it on whisper mode.

Pros:

  • Has an H13 HEPA filter
  • Has a carbon-activated filter
  • Utilizes UV-C light
  • Very quiet operation
  • Ideal for large basements

Cons:

  • Has an ionizer (but you can turn it off)

Pure Enrichment® PureZone™ Elite – The Best Budget Air Purifier

Not everyone can splash out on an expensive air purifier for their basement.

If that sounds like you, I’ve got just the perfect model for you.

Please let me introduce you to the Pure Enrichment PureZone Elite air purifier.

Like my favorite pick from above, this unit has a multi-stage filtration system featuring a HEPA filter, UV-C light, and a carbon-activated filter.

In order words, 99.97% of solid particles as small as 0.3 microns can be removed while effectively removing odors, VOCs, and other gasses.

And while this model has an ionizer, it’s best not to use this feature if you want to maintain the highest safety levels possible.

This air purifier also has a smart air quality monitor.

This feature allowed you to view the quality of air currently present in the basement.

Also, your air purifier will adjust its settings automatically based on the quality of air in the basement.

In terms of this unit’s downsides, it only covers an area of 190 square feet, which isn’t ideal if you have an extra large basement.

It also has a set dBA rating of 60, which is quite loud compared to other quieter models.

After all, this is a budget-friendly pick, so I certainly can’t complain about these minor flaws.

Pros:

  • Very easy to use
  • Has a smart air quality monitor
  • Great value for the money
  • 4-stage filtration system
  • Easy to move around

Cons:

  • Has an ionizer
  • Not the best option for huge basements

TruSens Smart Wi-Fi Air Purifier – The Best Premium Air Purifier For Large Basements

Since I highlighted what is probably the best affordable air purifier on the market, it’s time to look at the other side of the spectrum.

If you want to spend a fair amount of money on one of the best air purifiers on the market, the TruSens Smart Wi-Fi air purifier is a great choice.

To start, this is a smart air purifier.

It can connect to your phone and other smart devices via Wi-Fi.

That way, you can tweak and adjust the unit’s settings remotely.

So, if you have smart speakers like Alexa at home, this air purifier is compatible.

In terms of its filtration system, this model is very capable.

For one, it can capture and destroy pollutants in 360 degrees thanks to its HEPA filter, carbon-activated filter, and UV-C light.

This unit can take care of everything from allergens and airborne viruses to cooking odors and pet dander.

What I particularly like about this unit is that it doesn’t have an ionizer.

While you can turn the ionizer off in the other two air purifiers on this list, it would be much more convenient if the air purifiers didn’t have the feature.

But that isn’t the only reason this air purifier stands out.

Another benefit of this air purifier is its automatic mode.

With the automatic mode, you can leave the air purifier on 24/7, and it will automatically adjust its settings depending on the air quality in your basement.

This air purifier also has a very modern and premium design, which could be what you need if you aren’t a fan of the classic tower-style air purifier.

That said, there is one flaw with this air purifier, and that’s the fact that it’s pretty expensive.

This is the priciest air purifier on this list, but rest assured that you get what you pay for.

Pros:

  • A true premium air purifier
  • Comes with an automatic mode
  • Connects to other smart devices via Wi-Fi
  • Great for large and small spaces
  • Modern design

Cons:

  • Quite pricey

Features Your Basement Air Purifier Needs to Have

When shopping for an air purifier for your basement, you want to ensure it has all the right features and functionalities.

And in the section below, I’ll outline what I think is important for your basement air purifier to have for it to do its job correctly.

A True HEPA Filter

The first and most important feature your basement air purifier should have is a true HEPA filter.

An air purifier without a HEPA filter is not worth it because it won’t be able to capture all the small solid particles floating around in the air.

This type of filtration system is made of fiberglass threads that form a fine mesh to capture tiny particles as small as 0.3 microns.

These particles include PM 2.5, dust, pollen, and other irritants that can be found floating in the air.

These are coincidentally the particles that affect our respiratory systems and can trigger asthma attacks.

So, buying an air purifier for your basement must have a true HEPA filter installed.

A Carbon Filter

When shopping for an air purifier for your basement, you must also ensure it features a carbon filter.

This filter is designed to purify the air and free it from odors, smelly gasses, and VOCs.

Without this filter, though you’ll get purified air in your basement, that lingering basement smell will still be present.

Automatic Features

In most cases, automatic modes on air purifiers are pretty unnecessary.

But this could be a handy feature if you plan on putting one in a large basement.

With an automatic air purifier, you won’t have to worry about adjusting the settings all the time.

Instead, these air purifiers use sensors to detect the air quality in the room and automatically adjust their settings accordingly.

With this feature, you can rest assured that the air in your basement is as purified as possible without the unit working harder than it should.

Quiet Operation

As a person with sensitive ears, I can’t stand the loud humming sounds some air purifiers produce.

So, if you’re someone like me, I highly suggest getting an air purifier with a relatively low noise output.

This feature allows you to hang out with friends and family in the basement while leaving the air purifier on without it being distracting.

I have an air purifier noise level guide that explains how loud your air purifier should be.

So, before you invest your hard-earned money into a unit, do make sure to check out my guide first.

UV-C Light

This last feature is optional, but it would still be nice.

Most air purifiers rely solely on filtration to clean the air.

While this is great, some people would want more robust protection in the basement.

In that case, getting an air purifier with UV-C lights would be an excellent investment.

UV-C lights can eliminate bacteria and contaminants in the air, making for a much cleaner and safer basement.

Conclusion
